Movie Movie Information (⌘I) • Displays a window, similar to the one shown below, containing information about the active movie — Click the checkbox to calculate Duration, Data Rate, Frame Rate, Selection Start, Selection End and Selection Duration based on the speed chosen in the movie speed palette, rather than the movie’s default speed.   · Duration is the length of the movie. · Normal Size is the movie’s natural window size. · Current Size is the movie’s current window size. · Data Size is the size of the movie’s data if saved as self-contained. · File Size is the movie file’s current size on disk. This may be smaller than Data Size if the movie is not completely self-contained. · Data Rate is the amount of movie data being processed per second. · Colour Depth is the monitor setting that the movie is optimised for. If “Change depth” is turned on in Preferences…, the screen’s colour depth is set to this depth (or the closest alternative) in Stage mode. · Number of Tracks is the number of separate tracks in the movie. These include video, sound, MIDI and others. · Video Compressor is the name of the compressor used to compress the video track (if there is one in the movie). · Number of Frames is the number of frames (or pictures) in the movie. This may take a few seconds to calculate, depending on the length of the movie. — To cancel a frame count, press the escape key, or type command-. (the command key and the period key). · Frame Rate is the number of frames being displayed per second. · Selection Start is the initial time of the current selection. · Selection End is the final time of the current selection. · Selection Duration is the length of the current selection. Go To Time… • Displays a dialog which lets you enter (in timecode) the precise time in the movie to go to. Hint: Double-clicking the current time in the Movie Speed Palette also displays the Go To Time dialog.   Loop (⌘L) • Plays the active movie in a continuous loop — When the movie reaches the end, it restarts from the beginning. Loop Back and Forth • Plays the active movie in an oscillating loop — When the movie reaches the end, it plays backwards towards the beginning, — When the movie reaches the beginning, it plays forwards towards the end. Play Selection Only (⌘T) • Plays only the selected portion of the active movie — To select part of a movie, hold down shift as you drag within the movie controller, — Play Selection Only also works with Loop and Loop Back and Forth. Half Size (⌘0) • Halves the window size of the active movie — Half Size can be chosen multiple times to reduce the window even further, — Half Size also works with sound-only movies. Normal Size (⌘1) • Reverts the window size of the active movie to normal size — Normal Size also works with sound-only movies. Double Size (⌘2) • Doubles the window size of the active movie — Double Size can be chosen multiple times to enlarge the window even further, — Double Size also works with sound-only movies. Fill Screen (⌘3) • Scales the window size of the active movie to fill the main screen, keeping the movie’s height-to-width ratio — Fill Screen also works with sound-only movies. Go To Poster Frame • Moves to the poster frame of the active movie — the poster frame is the picture used for the preview in the open dialog. Set Poster Frame • Uses the current frame of the active movie as the poster frame — the poster frame is the picture used for the preview in the open dialog, — the movie must be saved for the poster frame to be permanently set. Play All Frames • Plays every frame of the active movie — otherwise QuickTime may skip frames to maintain the required frame rate, — Play All Frames preserves all frames at the expense of maintaining the frame rate, — sound is muted if Play All Frames is turned on because the frame rate is variable, — the movie speed controller is disabled if Play All Frames is turned on because the movie is played as smoothly as possible. Mute Sound (⌘M) • Turns the active movie’s sound off. Play All Movies • Plays all open movies — this command becomes Stop All Movies if the active movie is currently playing. Stage (⌘G) • Plays the active movie in front of a blank background, with no distracting windows, menu bar or cursor. • Playing a movie using Stage plays the movie at its best, as fast as possible. • If your monitor supports multiple resolutions, the screen’s resolution will be changed to the most appropriate size. • If your computer permits hardware scaling (e.g. Colour Classic) and your monitor is set to thousands of colours, the movie will be played at twice the current size with no speed reduction. • Click the mouse button to close the stage window, or press the escape key, or type command-. (the command key and the period key). Easter Egg: Hold down option while choosing Stage, or choose Stage on Christmas Day.
